-
Does the loan cover tax, title, and registration for the RV?
On new RV and camper purchases, yes, 802 Credit Union offers up to 100% financing, which can include tax, title, and registration costs. For used vehicles, we lend up to the NADA retail value of the vehicle. If you have questions about what your specific purchase would look like, our lending team can walk through the numbers with you before you apply.
-
How much should I put down on an RV loan?
There’s no single right answer, but a down payment of 10–20% is a reasonable starting point for most buyers. Putting money down reduces your monthly payment, lowers the total interest you’ll pay over the life of the loan, and can help you qualify for a better rate. That said, 802 Credit Union offers up to 100% financing on new vehicles, so if you’d rather keep your cash reserves intact, that option is available. It’s worth running the numbers both ways before you decide.
-
What’s the difference between financing through a credit union vs. a dealership?
Dealership financing is convenient, but that convenience often comes at a cost. Dealers typically mark up the interest rate above what the lender actually offers — pocketing the difference as profit. At 802 Credit Union, you’re borrowing directly from a member-owned, not-for-profit lender with no middleman and no markup. Our rates are set to benefit members, not to generate margin for a sales department. You’ll also work with a local lending team you can actually call or visit, rather than a finance office that may not be available once you’ve driven off the lot.
-
Can I finance an RV from a private seller?
Yes, we do finance private-party recreational vehicle purchases. We’ll need the seller’s information, the bill of sale, and vehicle details. We finance used recreational vehicles up to NADA retail value, so we’ll check the vehicle’s value as part of the approval process.
-
Where do I send my RV loan payments?
You can make payments online through 802CU Online Banking, via our mobile app, in person at any branch, or by mail. See our branch locations page for mailing addresses.
-
How quickly can I get approved for an RV loan?
Most RV loan applications receive a decision within one business day. If you apply online and your application is complete, a Vermont-based loan officer will review it promptly. For faster processing, have your income documentation and vehicle information ready when you apply.
-
Do I need to be an 802CU member to apply for an RV loan?
Yes, you do need to be a member, but becoming one is quick and straightforward! Visit our Membership page to see how to join. Many people open a membership and apply for their RV loan on the same day.
-
Do I have to be in financial trouble to use this service?
Not at all! Our certified financial counselors work with members at every point on the financial spectrum. Some members come to us carrying debt or facing a financial setback, and this service is absolutely here for that. However, plenty of members use financial counseling simply because they want to feel more confident about money. Whether it’s setting up a budget that actually sticks or learning how to start saving for a home, there are many valid reasons to reach out.
-
Do I need to be a member to receive financial counseling?
Yes, financial counseling is a free benefit available exclusively to 802 Credit Union members. The good news is that becoming a member is a quick and straightforward process. Once you’re a member, you’re an owner of this credit union, and that means full access to everything we offer, including one-on-one time with a certified financial counselor at no cost.
-
Is financial counseling confidential? Who will see my information?
What you share with your counselor stays with your counselor. Financial counseling sessions are completely private. We’re not here to judge, and your information is not shared with other departments or used to influence any decisions about your accounts. If you’ve been hesitant to ask for help because you’re worried about who might see your situation, set that aside. This is a safe conversation.
-
Do I need to be an 802CU member to apply for a boat loan?
Yes. 802CU is a member-owned credit union, so you’ll need a membership account before your loan can fund. The good news: membership is quick to open online, and your initial deposit is as low as $5. You can apply for membership and your boat loan at the same time.
-
Does Vermont require insurance on a financed boat?
Vermont does not legally require boat insurance for most vessels, but 802CU requires comprehensive insurance on financed boats as a condition of the loan. This protects both you and your collateral. Ask our team about our optional insurance products to bundle coverage with your loan.

To protect you and ensure the validity of your card transactions, your transactions are monitored for unusual spending patterns. If you plan on traveling out of the state or out of the country, or intend to make large purchases, please call us in advance so that we can flag your account. Otherwise, card usage may be blocked if it appears your card or account number has been stolen.
If you are traveling outside of the United States, you will need to bring your PIN number along with you. (You received a PIN when you received your new card.)
